4 hour Cardiac First Response – Community Level Course

Approximately 10,000 people in Ireland die from cardiovascular disease every year. Of these 10,000 deaths, it is estimated that half of these are as a result of sudden cardiac arrest. The Cardiac First Response (CFR) course takes approximately four hours and will give you the skills and knowledge to respond to  a sudden cardiac arrest, along with a range of other potentially life threatening emergencies. 

The course is a must to boost anyone's CV and could potentially save a life.

What can certified Emergency First Responders do?

​A cardiac first responder is a person trained in cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and in the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), who can respond to someone who may be experiencing a life threatening emergency. A cardiac first responder plays a vital role in keeping a person alive until they can receive expert clinical care.

  • Automated External Defibrillator - AED

  • Recovery (safe airway) Position

  • Adult Choking - Conscious and Unconscious

  • Child Choking - Conscious and Unconscious

  • Infant Choking - Conscious and Unconscious

  • Airway Obstruction Adult, Child and Infant

  • Aspirin Administration for Heart Attack

  • Stroke

  • Skills Group Practice

How is the course delivered?

The course is delivered using a DVD to guide practice. It uses a ‘watch’ and ‘practice while watching’ methodology. This format means participants will receive the most consistent, accurate and up-to-date resuscitation information. The course is very interactive with a range of manikins, defibrillators & training aids incorporated throughout. Each student will receive a CFR Student Handbook to support course delivery.

How long will my certificate be valid?

 

Once completed, you will be issued with a Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Council (PHECC) recognised Cardiac First Response certificate that is valid for 2 years.

Is the course flexible?

The course is extremely flexible and mobile, allowing us come straight to you in order to teach the course to different groups. The course is also run regularly for the public at set locations.
