Teen Dive Camp (3-Day)
Become A Qualified PADI Scuba Diver and gain important life skills!
Our Teen Dive Camps are a camp like no other! Over the course of this action packed camp, young people will become fully qualified PADI Scuba Divers (or Junior Scuba Divers for ages 11-14) and learn important First Aid & Water Safety skills that may someday save a life. They will also learn about the marine world and important environmental issues. There is a strong focus on team building with participants gaining the knowledge and skills to excel in a safe & fun-filled environment.
There is also an option available after for participants to gain their PADI Open Water certification by completing an additional two Confined Water & Open Water Dives, along with relevant theory sections.
Scuba Dive Training
The PADI Scuba Diver course is the perfect way for any youngster to begin their underwater journey. Once qualified, participants will receive lifelong certification to dive under the direct supervision of a PADI professional to a maximum depth of 12 meters . . . anywhere in the world!
This is a stepping stone to the PADI Open Water Course (or Junior Open Water) which will only require an additional four dives and two chapters of the book in the future.
The PADI Scuba Diver course consists of the following;
1) Back to school (Theory Section)
Knowledge Development is a very important part of the PADI Scuba Diver course. We will complete three different sections of theory that will give participants an understanding of the basic principles of scuba diving.
2) Skills practice (Confined Dives)
The PADI Scuba Diver course consists of three shallow water (2.5 meters) confined dives. These dives take place in our custom made (and heated!) dive tank. During training dives, participants will learn basic Scuba skills and become comfortable under water while working together as a team.
3) Time to explore (Open Water Dives)
The last stage of the course involves putting these newly learnt skills and knowledge into action, as divers embark on two Open Water Dives. This is their opportunity to explore a whole new world and experience all Scuba diving has to offer.
First Aid Training
At Oceans of Discovery, we firmly believe that all young people should be given the skills and knowledge to effectively respond to a range of potentially life threatening emergencies. We take a very hands on approach to training, with camp members practicing on a range of manikins and other training aids. They will also get to put their new skills and knowledge to the test with a range of practice scenarios.
Topics covered include the following;
How to activate emergencies services
Responding to bleeding
Responding to choking
Stokes & heart attacks
Responding to a cardiac arrest
AED Defibrillator demonstration
No summer marine based summer camp would be complete with a Water Safety workshop! During the workshop, participants will gain a much greater understanding of things to be aware of and potential hazards when spending time at the coast. They will gain invaluable skills that may save their own or someone else life if the worst was ever to happen.
Topics covered on the beach include;
Responding to a drowning event
Understanding Rip Currents
Safety on the sea
